The project involves a partial intervention focused on living area, previously composed by two rooms divided by a partition, with the aim of creating a merged bigger space preserving the possibility of separating it, if necessary, and keeping therefore distinct characteristics and functions. Further complexity is given by the conservation of the original parquet, typical of early 20th Century Milan buildings and suitably polished. Client’s request finds its response in replacing the previous wall with a large glass double door with a reflex bronze finish, that becomes the predominant furniture element of the living room. When open, these doors cover the lateral plain partitions and merge the two areas; when closed, they become a filter balanced by light intensity. The first room, directly connected to the entrance, can be used both as a living and a dining room, while the second is intended as a sort of framed background, equipped with a large library, a study desk and a sofa bed, and can become a guest room when needed. The original large wardrobe that divides the entrance from the living room is slightly reduced to exploit natural light and increase the perception of a bigger space. The project is completed by an accurate colour palette selection, where the dark green colour chosen by the client is associated to a delicate warm mood board and punctuality used in distinct furniture elements.
